Asian Dub Foundation are an eclectic musical co-operative formed in London in 1993. Their distinctive sound is a combination of hard ragga-jungle rhythms, indo-dub basslines, sitar- inspired guitars and 'traditional' sounds gleaned from their parents' record collections, shot through with politically conscious lyrics.
The line up of the collective is everchanging but the core of the group remains Steven 'Chandrasonic' Savale, Aniruddha 'Dr' Das, John 'DJ Pandit G' Pandit and Sanjay 'Sun-J' Tailor - accompanied by an eclectic variety of musicians and vocalists both on record and for their formidable, high-energy live performances.
As well as releasing 10 albums, the most recent being their best-of compilation: Time Freeze, the group have also persued more innovative musical avenues such as their live rescoring of the films La Haine and The Battle Of Algiers. They also composed the music to the opera 'Gaddafi: A Lving Myth' performed at the London Colisium in late 2006.
